The intervention consisted of a collective collage of performances within the group. The development and realisation of the performance “Die Anrufbeantworterin” with Moritz Hanfgarn and Lina Kratz thematises interpersonal communication influenced by algorithms.

A desk, on which a fancy old typewriter is positioned on the theatre square in Weimar. A red push-button telephone gleams on it, a massive pile of books and magazines next to it and a calm person sits on the chair, diligently answering incoming calls. She is the answering machine. She answers all the questions. Young questions, old questions, political questions, questions of understanding, artistic questions, acute life questions. She provides an exclusive answer to every question. An algorithm that has become human always delivers results – whether the answer makes sense? Doubtful!

A total of three telephone stations are set up on the theatre square, from which the answering machine can be called. The documents, labelled with the call numbers that each calling person receives when they call, are individually and yet schematically prepared for each person asking the question. If the person wishes to make their answer public at the end, they can go on to Sofie Heinz’s “Archive of unheard opinions”.
